And while we're talking about favourite characters, can I put in a plug for older_not_dead which is currently looking for prompts for Proptathon 22 "Elements", because it's those prompts I am using for Sussex Retirement my ACD Holmes/Watson retirement series.
The background to this story is the ACD AU 'verse that is best summed up by Watson's Diary a story that scfrankles and I co-wrote, and is probably a good reason why neither of us should be allowed out on our own, (or be left to run a LJ comm). Suffice to say that the pairings are Holmes/Hopkins and Watson/Lestrade.
winryweiss requested Lestrade and Hopkins sharing the experience about how hard it is (sometimes) to deal with their 'dearest friends'. However, unfortunately for Hopkins, Lestrade had his own thoughts. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this.
A Delicate Question
Characters: Dr John Watson, Sherlock Holmes, Inspector Lestrade
Word Count: 500
Summary: In last week's discussion of sherlock60 on The Noble Bachelor I suggested that there might have been more than one John Watson. spacemutineer encouraged me to write something to this effect.
( You realise that there is now another John Watson residing at 221B Baker Street )
Characters: Dr Watson, Sherlock Holmes,
Notes: Written for the holmes100 prompt "My Dear Watson, that's no lady."
Holmes’ investigation had led us to a club that provided for the needs of discerning gentlemen. Whilst he was making his enquiries I permitted myself the opportunity to appraise the ladies who were employed there. One in particular caught my eye, a tall young thing with very beautiful hair. I debated whether it would be possible to invite her out for supper. However, when I went to her dressing room I was horrified to see a wig on the stand and a young man removing his make-up. And then I heard Holmes remark drolly, “My dear Watson, that’s no lady.”
