MiniWriMo
I was encouraged to do
mini_wrimo by
fortesomniare I did it a couple of years ago and wasn't sure, but she sort of talked me into it. It's not a major commitment unlike NaNoWriMo - I signed up for 200 words a day, but that's still a daily commitment. The logic was that if I wrote 200 words every day on my Big Bang it would be about finished by the end of the month. Which of course meant that I didn't even start writing on it till a third of the way through the month. I did, however, write at least 200 words every day. And unlike previous years it wasn't such a battle. There were a couple of days when I didn't want to write the Big Bang as I was letting plot points perculate and was writing drabbles for
comment_fic and was slightly desperate for something to write - and I ended up writing drabbles for two prompts by the same person.
In total I wrote 10,623 words - slightly less will be recorded at
mini_wrimo because there were occasions when I wrote again later in the day after I'd posted my word count. Of these 2,795 were for my BB for
smallfandombang - which brings me up to the 6,000 point overall and therefore I'm happy because I'm on track for the finishing date. 423 were on 60 word drabbles and clerihews for
sherlock60 - given the nature of the comm that was never going to be a large figure. 768 were for
comment_fic - I was expecting more, but in fact I only joined in four times in the month - the prompts really haven't been very exciting lately. 2,095 for my three
fan_flashworks entries - which is about what I'd expect. 1,752 for an
acd_holmesfest pinch hit I wrote at the beginning of the month - and which was why I didn't start on my BB until later than planned. And 2,790 for
lewis_challenge Secret Santa - which is where I've been concentrating for the latter part of the month.
So, despite my initial misgivings, thank you
fortesomniare for encouraging me to take part this year.
