Three Words Meme (Part One)

There's been a meme going round in which the willing victim is given three random words and has to say something about them.  The words can be chosen because they are thought of has having little relevance but this isn't necessarily so.  I've asked various of my flist for three words each, and will be posting my replies over the next couple of weeks.

Firstly, from [personal profile] castiron

Gardens:  I'm not much of a gardener and most of our back garden is slabs and pots.  I took these pictures last month.  Some of the snapdragons are waist high - they're all self-seeded.

I do enjoy visiting the gardens in various stately homes, as can be seen in my blog posts of the visits.

Echolocation:  Something I leave to bats.

Cotton:  I'm not a fan of pure cotton - too much ironing, but will settle happily for a cotton mix.  I'm aware of Britain's part in the slave trade which brought slaves into the cotton fields, but my general US history isn't very strong.  For me, the history of cotton is the history of cotton mills and the treatment of the workers, including children.  And hence my icon, John Thornton, cotton mill owner in the book North and South.

If anyone would like three words, please say in the comments.
