smallhobbit: knitted hat (Klimt hat)

The icon is actually the hat I knitted for myself, the pattern being a Christmas present from SM.

I suspect it all depends on the individual as to what they find easiest. My mother taught me to knit when I was a child, and I've knitted on and off for years. Anything knew I tend to google/youtube as there are some great instruction videos around. Basic sewing again I learnt as a child, although I was very bad at needlework at secondary school. The stitches for cross stitch are easy, the concentration comes with following the pattern.

I began cross stitching in 2017, as one of the 12 challenges I took up for 2017/18. I also tried crotchet, which I decided wasn't for me! With the cross stitch I bought a cheap kit off Ebay (less than £5) and had a go. Kits are great because you get everything you need, rather than buying the items separately, which is normally more expensive. If you decide you enjoy something and want to continue then you can buy more expensive things later.
