Two days later Greg walked into Mycroft’s sitting room, to find Sherlock sitting with his foot up on the settee.

“Where’s John?” Greg asked.

 “In the garden.”

“What’s happened now?”

“Why don’t you ask him?”

“I will”.

Greg went out into the garden and saw John sitting on a bench looking at the fish pond.

“You’re back early,” John said.

“By the time I’d knocked the second cup of coffee over with this cast they decided I’d do less damage if I went home.”

“Ha, they probably had a point.”

“Why don’t you tell me what’s wrong?”

“He didn’t have to tell everyone.”

“Tell them what?”

“That there are times when I sleep with the light on, like a bloody kid.”

“Why do you think Sherlock said anything?”

“Because this afternoon Mycroft asked if I’d prefer a softer bulb for my lamp.”

“I don’t think you can really blame Sherlock.  You were having a nightmare last night before we went to bed.  He suggested that if someone could put your light on it might help you to sleep better.  He wasn’t really in a position to do it himself.”

John blushed.  “I suppose I owe Sherlock an apology.”

“Ever known him to apologise for being in the wrong?”

“No.”

“I wouldn’t bother then.”

The two men walked back into the sitting room to find that Mycroft had arranged for afternoon tea to be produced and he had started to pour the tea.

John looked at Sherlock and was about to say something when Sherlock grinned, winked at him and said “If I’m Christopher Robin, you’re Tigger and Greg’s Eeyore, who do you think Mycroft is?”

To Mycroft’s chagrin they all turned towards him and chorused “Kanga!”
