Wreath Making and Other Crafts

At work we provide supported living for young adults with learning difficulties, with four residential houses on site.  I'm based in the office, but sometimes I get out to join in the activities.  (I have been known to be pressganged to supervise sanding in the wood workshop).  On Wednesday afternoon there was a wreath making workshop, so since I wasn't overly busy I went along.

These were proper wreaths we were making - fir branches, holly, mistletoe, all wound round a wire frame.  I am clearly not adept at doing anything so complicated.  I was helping one of the residents - who would hand me branches to attach to the wreath and by the end we had a reasonably creditable wreath, except it was practically square.  D however was delighted and held it up proudly to have her photo taken with it.

And then yesterday evening at Brownies we decorated sweet jars: posh glass coffee jars which we stuck Christmassy pictures on with sticky pads and added silver stars and jewel effects.  Finally, we have found a craft that even our Brownies can manage without any difficulty.  (After which, since it was a quick craft, we played lots of noisy games).  And I now have an honesty box for the book stall at the Christmas Market that they're holding at work tomorrow.
