A Meme

Back in January [personal profile] howsmyenglish posted a meme, which I bookmarked for when I was looking for something to blog about.  And here it is:

Are you more happy or sad?
Happy - I'm a glass half full sort of person.

Favourite comfort reading?
Any classic style mystery novel - if you glance through my book reviews you'll quickly see the sort of thing I read.

Favourite comfort watching?
Re-runs of Midsomer Murders, Poirot, Miss Marple ...  You may be sensing a theme.

What do you like about rain?
I sleep better on the nights when it's raining.  And it makes the countryside green.

What's the best thing that happened to you this week?
I probably ought to say I was told that at work they really really appreciate all the hard work I've put into the finances.  Although I've got pleasure from cross-stitching the first sunflower on the Klimt (picture later this month) and I bought some very cute t-shirts for my granddaughter for Easter.

Imagine you're on a very long train journey (days and days) - what would be your favourite pastime during this journey?
Apart from looking at the scenery, I'd read - maybe even reduce my To Be Read pile!

Name two of your dreams: one you really hope/plan will come true one day, and one that you're sure won't come true but wouldn't it be great though!
My impossible dream would be to visit all the wonderful places in Europe and be able to spend enough time to see all the sights etc, without being museumed out.  My possible dream is to continue visiting some of the cultural capitals of Europe and go to concerts/exhibitions in them.  Budapest next stop!

Yes, you are a happy person.

Hurrah for common interests.

I was thinking (for 100 fandoms) that it wouldn't be a hardship to re-watch some Tom & Ben Midsomer episodes and do a bit with them.

Good. I am glad you're getting proper praise at work.

Sounds good! Yes, after a while in Italy I said 'no more Madonnas and child.'

Bookmarked for later - though my meme list is getting to be as long as my tbr list.

Glad you got that praise from work!

I prefer to focus on one small part of museums and art galleries at a time and am easily overwhelmed if anyone tries to get me through entire exhibitions in one go!! As a result, I tend to prefer local things that I can revisit, and preferably either free or inexpensive for the same reason! Having said that, there are some things in 'foreign parts' I wouldn't have missed for the world!

There are some that stand out in my memory - usually smaller ones with a very specific focus. A few that spring to mind are Chopin's House in Poland, Mozart's House in Salzburg, The House of the Wannsee Conference in Berlin, and the Almeida Military and History Museum in central Portugal. With bigger places, like The Louvre, I just got overwhelmed and didn't really enjoy the experience or even see half the display.

Hello! Should you one day post an answer to these questions, I'd be very happy to get a link. I like reading answers to these questions :)

You could friend me! My DW and LJ are f'locked but only because I had some work stolen by a bot. We have smallhobbit and kat_lair in common. I do memes from time to time but I am easily distracted and can't promise answers any time soon!

I've subscribed and granted access. I don't post that often - when I do, I usually cross post to FB and LJ and Wordpress.

Poirot and Miss Marple belong to my comfort watching, too. I've never seen Midsomer Murders, though. Thank you! I'll try.

And thank you for the answers! I enjoyed reading them!
