Craft - Month 3
First up I finished the cross stitch by the end of the first week of July. Hooray!

After which I decided to try some other crafts. Back in early spring I had ordered some wool for my mother, and the website I'd ordered from had some free amigurumi crochet patterns, so I'd made a collection and decided to have a go. I have done some crochet, but was finding I was battling with it, so thought I'd try converting the patterns into knitting patterns. I did a lot of knitting in the past, so it turned out okay, and I knitted a whale and a penguin chick.

At which point I realised that I really wanted to knit rather than crochet, and that it would help if I had some actual knitting patterns.
I found the Twenty to Make series with Tiny Toys to Knit and Tiny Christmas Toys to Knit and began with a goldfish.

I then found the website for the publishers of the books: Search Press. Along with ordering another book (more Christmas decorations), I found they had a few free patterns, so I knitted another penguin.

I also bought several small balls of different coloured wool and knitted some parrots.

I'm pleased you like them - the parrots in particularly are fun - although fiddly to put together.

Your critters are totally adorable. Will you be making a set for your granddaughter?

They're a little bit small for my granddaughter, but I could make them a bit bigger for her.

I'm glad you like the parrots and the whale - they made a complete change from a large piece of cross stitch.
