Brownie News

We looked at the requirements for running indoor meetings, and decided we could go ahead, with a split pack - ie Brownies coming alternate weeks.  However, because of the way it would be run we would need all four leaders present every week.  Further reflection, and the realisation that we couldn't guarantee we'd all be able to attend every week (one of our leaders is a nurse, for instance) and we accepted it just wasn't practical.

So after an online discussion yesterday, we've decided we will begin as Zoom meetings, so the Brownies can attend every week and we'll see how it goes.  It does have the advantage that if any of the girls are told to self-isolate because of an infection at their school bubble they can still join in.

And then today we heard we'd been awarded one of the grants which I'd applied for.  This means our subs are now covered and we can therefore afford to do some reasonable activities with the girls, rather than scrimping and saving.  So, hooray!

Congratulations on getting the grant! ^___^ And good luck with your Zoom-ing Brownies - at least there will be no cleaning up of glue and glitter afterwards...? ^_^

Yahoo for getting the grant!

Meeting in person is a pain these days, so I’m glad the zoom option is available. It’s something.

I hope that means you can pay your sub to Head Office! I think Zoom sounds like the way to go. There's no point risking more mingling outside school and family for anyone if you can still keep in touch and provide activities. It should be fun working out how to Zoom some of those!

Congratulations on being awarded those grants that you applied for! That's excellent news! :-D

I think having virtual meetings is a great idea. It means that there's no risk of infection for anyone and everyone can attend, even girls who are self-isolating. It's definitely the safer, more practical option. I hope it all works out. :-)

My grandson has been having zoom scout meetings for ages. It's obviously not the same as face to face meetings, but better than nothing.

Great news about the grant, it will make a lot of difference to your Brownies:)

Glad to hear you got the grant and best wishes for the meetings. My husband has been helping run church youth group meetings on Zoom - slightly older age group. One of the things he's found are quite popular are scavenger hunts - everyone does it within their own home, but it means they're not sitting down all the time. Last week, they were having to find things that began with the first five letters of their name.
