Writing - October 2021

Another low word count month, with a total of about 9K, bringing my current yearly total to 113K.  I am definitely finding less challenges I want to do now, and this time what I have written has been on the shorter side.  On the other hand, I've got other things I enjoy.  And if I added all the words I've used in writing grant applications that would certainly boost the figure!

whatif_au has its customary Spooky challenge, so I wrote a further ficlet in A Study by Ghosts which has Holmesian ghosts in the modern day, with some of BBC Sherlock's characters: Ghostly Assistance

story_works has a Moon challenge, which gave the perfect opportunity to write another werewolf!Lucas fic: Moonlight Becomes You, It Goes With Your Fur

allbingo had a Fall Festival, so once again I completed a 2x2 bingo card for my Spooks AU Love in All Seasons, set just after Lucas retires: The Autumn of Our Lives

And for spook_me I also wrote a Spooks fic: On the Other Side of the Door

I have started my Yuletide fic, which should be finished next month.  watsons_woes has been running a Spooktacular with weekly prompts, which I've been filling - so far I've only killed Watson once, although one of the other ficlets is left unresolved!  I really need to add to A Sentinel Amongst the Spooks so maybe I can concentrate on that for November - we shall see.

It's all a matter of perspective as 113K words so far this year seems like a lot of words to me. :D

I agree. I was looking to 150K for the year, but I'm very aware that I'm not writing as much as I could and that the inspiration isn't there. At the moment I seem to be quite happy just paddling in my favourite spots, rather than exploring new scenes.

I think I'm noting the lack of inspiration as much as anything else. I'd like to write a bit more, but don't want to force myself when nothing is appealing.
