Local Events - Part 3

About a week ago we went to the Berkeley Show, which is a traditional country show.  When we first started going it was much bigger and held on August Bank Holiday Monday, but now it's smaller and held on a Sunday at the end of June.  Originally it was a venue where local farmers competed their cattle and sheep, there were a large number of horse competitions, both ridden and in hand, plus the traditional handicraft sections.  There were also a large number of trade stalls.

It is much smaller now, although gave us a good day out.

Various views of the tents, and stalls - with Berkeley Castle in the background of the first photo

There were various craft stalls within one of the large tents.  This is the one the Son's Mother-in-Law was running, with her handmade items.

There were still a number of riding classes - this is the arena for one of them:

There were some animals, including sheep and these impressive shire horses:

Some large farm machinery, although it's unlikely any of the farmers there would be buying:

And various activities in the main arena, including the local foxhounds, a horse demonstration and Shetland pony racing:

If it had been in Midsomer, there would surely have been a murder! I hope you had a nice time.

I love the photos, especially the ones of the horses. You look like you had a great day, even if the event is smaller than it once was.
