Eeyore didn't really have friends. By nature he was solitary and lived quite happily on his own amongst his thistles. He didn't need anyone to come and disturb him. But he did miss them when they didn't call round and sometimes, just sometimes, when he hadn't seen anyone for a day or two he would go for a walk, just to have a change of scenery. And see if anything had happened. Then he could always nod and say he wasn't surprised, these things happened, and he'd stay and chat for a bit, because it wouldn't be polite not to.
