Beverley

We began our last full day in Yorkshire with a visit to Beverley Minster:

It was lovely inside, but I failed to take any photos.  From there we walked across the main part of the town to St Mary's Church, where I did take some photos:

which had some rather quirky panels and carvings:

Including what is rumoured to be the original White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland:

After we'd visited the church we found a lovely French restaurant, where we had boeuf bourguignon tart which was delicious, and, since it was a French restaurant I had a glass of wine.  For dessert there was a dish which gave tasters of a number of desserts - creme caramel, chocolat pot, meringue - together with an espresso.  I don't drink coffee, so was offered tea, but I don't drink tea after a meal either.  So the waiter suggested an amaretto.  How could I refuse?

We had an excellent break, but I think part of the display at St Mary's summed me up beautifully:

Love the white rabbit! And amaretto as a post-prandial substitute for coffee seems perfectly sensible.
