Sketching

This month's Dare to Dabble session was a simple sketching one in the gardens of the museum.  There was the opportunity to try out various drawing media, including charcoal and different graphite pencils, as well as paints.

I decided to concentrate on the plants within one small area, since there were a wide variety of flowers and plants to experiment with the various media:

Stick figures are my limit and I don't think stick figure flowers will ever catch on ;)

Up until a few years ago I'd have said I couldn't draw, but with practice it's improving. A lot of it is learning to draw what I actually see, not what I think I see. I stick to plants though.

Those are great sketches! I really like all of the detail that you've been able to incorporate into your drawings. You've also done some very nice shading with the charcoal.

Thank you very much. It was really a case of experimenting and finding out what is and isn't possible with various media, so I'm glad it came out well.
