Fannish 50 (47) - Friends - Give Me A Year

As part of my final Fannish 50 batch celebrating Friends, I thought it would be interesting to share a bit about myself.  But I decided not to do the usual 'ask me anything' sort of question.  Instead, give me a year and I will try to tell you something about it that is relevant to me.  If it's a year I've actually lived through then it will hopefully be more personal (assuming I can remember!) and if not I'll see if I can find a connection of some kind, although the further back into history you go, the more general the answer may become.

I've no idea how this will work, or whether it will work at all, but I can but try!

The Daughter was a Rainbow (youngest section of Girl Guides) who celebrated their 10th anniversary that year. At that point the uniform was a tabard in different colours of the rainbow, depending on the unit, and hers was purple.

She had joined at the beginning of the year and in typical style, had come home after her first week demanding her uniform, to be sponsored, and to go on an outing.
