Holiday - Final Thoughts (and the obligatory mention of food)

One thing which did surprise us was the number of people who wore traditional dress on the Sunday.  This is the hotel proprietor with his wife and daughter:



The food, of course, was enjoyable:



Raspberry Kuchen from St Gilgen; chocolate coated banana from the market in Bad Ischl; ice cream and hot raspberries in Salzburg.

I managed to speak a little German, shopping in the market was one example, when I confused both myself and the stallholder.  Fortunately another customer came to the rescue - also speaking German, but I understood her.  My comprehension has improved, but I desperately need to speak more.  But whenever I begin to speak in German the reply comes back in English.  I did however manage to explain when buying my entry ticket to the Kaiservilla that I had been given too much change.

And so it was time to come home.  But I brought a new friend with me:



I've named him Edel Lion.
