Well, we made it to the Easter break
Apr. 3rd, 2014 11:19 pmHooray! We have 19 Brownies - all but two are coming on the sleepover, so we can guarantee they'll be back next term. And we have a returner as well (her mother had a new baby and there were problems), which is encouraging because it's always good to know that they hadn't left because they weren't enjoying themselves.
Last week, with the run up to Mother's Day, we made paper flowers, which were surprisingly effective. And one of the girls, who had spent most of the term complaining she couldn't do things, made some really good flowers which her mum must have been very pleased with. The same Brownie produced an excellent family tree, which she'd worked on at home. She said her mum had helped her, which was clear in the way it had been set out, but our Brownie had obviously put a lot of effort in to it too.
This week we began with a quiz based on types of sweet - obviously a popular choice. This was followed by a design your own Easter egg - any ingredients, any packaging. It was interesting to see the different designs they all came up with. Apart from the expected chocolate, quite a few chose something fruit flavoured and a number were extremely imaginative.
And now we have a break for two weeks. All that remains is for me to write an article for our local monthly magazine, because it doesn't hurt to keep ourselves noticed. And at least with writing about Brownies in my blog I have some quick reference points, rather than trying to remember what we did a month ago (especially when I find it hard remembering what happened last week).
