Pompoms and Baskets
Mar. 27th, 2015 10:22 pmWe've been doing craft activities at Brownies for the last two weeks - because what could possibly go wrong?
Last week we had kits to make pompom owls. Very sweet they were too. Only it took so long to make the pompoms that there wasn't time for most of the Brownies to attach the faces and feet. But I did have a nice chat with the six I was working with about the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Both of which I obviously believed in wholeheartedly. And I suggested that perhaps the Easter Bunny made the Easter eggs and didn't just buy them.
Yesterday we wove Easter baskets. The baskets were made out of laminated card and we used a form of raffia ribbon to weave. It was - interesting. I redid a number of baskets when they were about half 'made' and incapable of holding anything. In the end I think they all achieved something that held a creme egg, so we can consider it a success.
We have one Brownie who I think may have ADHD. If she does it would be nice to know. It's certainly very difficult doing crafts with her, especially when others are equally in need of help. However, on the plus side, one of the other Brownies, who usually puts very little effort into any craft, with a little help worked very hard to produce a really good basket.
And now we have two weeks off for Easter, before we return to the fray.
