Answering a Question
Apr. 11th, 2015 08:02 pmA couple of weeks ago, when looking for something to blog about I said I would answer questions.
draycevixen asked "When it comes to fic do you have a trope, kink, etc. that you love to write/will always read, given it's in the right fandom? And the same question only one you hate and would never get past the summary?"
My favourite tropes have to be hurt/comfort combined with buddy cop. Give me two guys who get on (or who learn to get on) and I will happily drift in and out of them having a physical relationship - either will do. Add some humour and you have me totally hooked. In fact that probably defines the fandoms I like in general, because there's the other attraction - casefic.
My secondary loves, which don't go together, are fluff (I like my world happy); kidfic - if the kid is believable and not obnoxious; and crack (yes, I have turned a number of people into rabbits, does that really surprise you?). I read and write all of those, but if I have to turn something out in a hurry I'll go for hurt/comfort.
What do I hate? Omegaverse; torture and non-com (I know these things happen in the world, I don't have to read stories about them). Anything that involves the reader being present in the story, because how do you know how I will react - I suppose a summary that said "X behaves badly and you get to hit X in the face" might be interesting. And PWP, because I tend to skip the sex bit in fics anyway, so there's little point in reading a PWP.
