1) What was the first Shakespeare play you read or saw performed?
We murdered several Shakespeare plays in my early years at grammar school, as to which ones I have no idea - clearly they made very little impression on me. First play I remember seeing performed was Julius Caesar. We were taken to the Yvonne Arnaud theatre in Guildford by our Latin teacher, who, on reflection, saw education as being a much wider concept than merely learning declensions and conjugations. I fell in love with Mark Antony.
2) What is your favorite Shakespeare play?
Julius Caesar because I love the dynamics within it. And yes, my icon is Brutus. And Henry V.
3) What is your least favorite Shakespeare play?
Controversially perhaps, As You Like It. This was one of the plays we did murder at school, but I don't think that's the reason. Nothing grabs me about it.
4) Who do you think wrote Shakespeare; are you a Stratfordian or Oxfordian?
Shakespeare, definitely.
5) Which Shakespeare plays have you read or seen performed?
I don't read the plays before I see them so that's irrelevant. I've seen 30 performed - I have a Shakespeare plays fridge magnet set and add new plays onto the fridge whenever I see a new one. The last few are taking longer to collect.
