The June Something - Days One to Four
Jun. 4th, 2019 05:38 pmThere's been a move to encourage people to post more often and
squidgiepdx posted a list of questions here with the suggestion that people post every day for the first 15 days of June. Regular readers of my blog will know this was never going to happen, but I will be answering the questions in blocks. So
brumeier and
melagan and anyone else who I'm following who are taking part, here are my first responses.
We all have that one fandom or OTP. But what would you consider your backup fandom? Bonus: Who is your backup OTP? Same fandom or different?
If I take ACD Sherlock Holmes as my main fandom (for which my OTP can either be Watson/Lestrade or retirement era Holmes/Watson), then my backup fandom is - actually I haven't a clue - it could be Spooks (MI5), or BBC Sherlock, or Lewis, or the Hobbit, or Winnie the Pooh, or maybe Call The Midwife. Backup OTP has to be Lucas North/Adam Carter from Spooks. Or maybe that's my main OTP and my backup is Watson and the Ferret!
If you had to insert yourself into one fandom as your reality, which would it be? Bonus: how different would you be in that reality?
ACD Holmes could be interesting, but very restrictive, so I shall go for Lewis and continue my life in Oxford. Although the end of the Holmesian era with Suffragettes and the birth of the Guiding movement has possibilities ...
Which character would you end up being best friends with? Bonus: Which other character would you and your new bestie give a hard time to?
Mrs Hudson (ACD Holmes). And Sherlock Holmes, of course.
You get to crossover two completely different fandoms. Which two shows and why? Bonus, give us a preview.
Call the Midwife crossed with an early 1960s version of Sherlock Holmes could be fun. (POV Watson)
"I don't care if you say you're best friends with the Queen, God bless her," Sister Evangelina said, her arms crossed firmly across her chest, "you are not coming in here."
"But it is imperative you let me in at once," Holmes replied.
I watched the two of them glare at each other. I do try not to bet nowadays, but it would have been interesting to see the odds as to which one would give way to the other.
