Characters: Lestrade, Watson
Summary: Written for the following prompt over at
John Watson and DI Lestrade were walking through Hyde Park one crisp autumn afternoon. Sherlock was at a crucial point in an experiment and wishing to complete it without interruption had thrown the pair of them out of the flat telling them to go and flirt elsewhere.
As they walked they discussed various matters: some of the cases Lestrade was currently working on, the strange characters that John had to treat at the clinic, Sherlock’s latest irritating trait. Lestrade began idly to kick up some of the leaves that had fallen on the path.
Suddenly, John stopped walking. Lestrade turned round to look at him and was surprised to see him starting to run across the grass. He was even more surprised when John took a flying leap into a pile of leaves. Lestrade began to laugh and then followed suit. He slipped on landing and stumbling forward knocked John into the leaves. In retaliation John reached upwards and dragged Lestrade down on top of him. They rolled around on the ground, giggling and trying to stuff leaves down the others’ neck.
John’s mobile pinged. They both looked at the text from Sherlock. ‘Return to flat. Formula found. You can arrest chemist in King William Street.’ This was followed shortly afterwards by a further text. ‘And stop behaving like school boys.’
