The Friday Five: Food

1. What are your top 5 favourite foods?
In no particular order: Cheese, Cake, Fish, Chocolate, Pasta

2. Is there something similar between them?
Yes, if I rewrite them as Cheese, Cake, Cod, Chocolate, Canneloni

3. Can you cook them yourself?
I can bake cakes and boil pasta and make very basic fish dishes.  I prefer it when others make fish or pasta dishes.

4. Pick one, and tell us why it is so special.
Fish has so many possibilities and it's what I generally choose when we're eating out.  Unless it's an Italian restaurant in which case, pasta!

5. Have you eaten your recommended servings of 2 fruit and 5 vegetables today?
It's not yet midday, so no.  However, taking the UK equivalent of 5 a day fruit and veg combined, I almost certainly will do: orange juice plus fruit on my cereal for breakfast; salad/fruit at lunch; vegetables in some form at tea; fruit in the evening.

I haven't eaten meat or fish since I was a teenager but apart from that, I heartily approve of your choices ^___^ I do so love cannelloni ^__^

I like those - though cake comes further down my list. That's perhaps why I don't bake much! I cook pasta and fish. and I use chocolate and cheese as ingredients quite often. If I'm eating out I like to choose something that has ingredients I know I'll like, but presented in a completely new way - then I try to recreate the recipe at home!

That's a clever idea. Since SM does the cooking and I don't have any particular desire to do so, I'm happy when eating out to try new things based around something I know I'll like.

I would also prefer someone else make the fish (I would prefer someone else make everything, of course, but even more so in the case of the fish, picking out the right fish, preparing it properly, cooking it properly, serving it nicely, a lot of work).

I much prefer someone else to do the cooking - and fish in particular as you say needs special attention.

Chocolate is my downfall so it would be in any favourites list. I like fish too but am not good at cooking it. I often wish someone else would cook for me, but alas ...

I don't think I've eaten cod... it's not a fish that appears on Australian tables very much. Do you have it fresh & grilled/fried, or smoked - I've seen smoked cod pre-packaged in some of our supermarkets

Cod is the traditional fish of 'fish and chips' so fried in batter. I imagine it can be smoked, but that wouldn't be the usual way of eating it - alternates are fillets in sauce/poached.
