“Sherlock, where’s the bread?”

“We used it all yesterday.”

“But I told you to leave me at least two slices for breakfast.”

“I did.  Then I had an idea.”

“Which was?”

“It doesn’t matter.  It didn’t work out.”

“So there’s no bread left.”

“I thought we had already established this as a fact.”

“I’m going out to buy some more.”

“Oh good, and whilst you’re out, you can get me...”

“F*ck off Sherlock and get your own shopping.”

It was bloody typical, John thought, that it would be pissing down with rain when he went outside.  Admittedly he could have waited, but he was so cross at Sherlock’s total lack of forethought that if he hadn’t left he would have ended up punching his flatmate.  So he pulled up the collar of his coat and lowered his umbrella so that he could just see beneath it.  He set off down the street to the bakers, cursing when he trod in a puddle.

Once inside the bakers the smell of freshly baked bread served to lighten his mood and he smiled at the assistant when she offered to slice his loaf.  In addition he bought four jam doughnuts, which he had no intention of sharing with Sherlock.

As he was about to leave the shop he noticed a flyer selotaped to the window.

“What’s this about?” he asked the assistant.

“I don’t know,” she replied.  “It was there this morning when I arrived at work.”

He used his phone to take a photo of the flyer to show Sherlock on his return.  It reminded him of something else he’d seen recently.  Then turning his collar back up he left the shop, opened his umbrella and set off back to the flat, maybe he would share the doughnuts after all.
