Yes, I am still here
Feb. 16th, 2014 10:47 pmDespite all the wind and rain, I haven't either disappeared in a puddle or been blown away. We've been okay so far, although a few journeys to work have been interesting as I've driven past lorries on the motorway wondering whether it was possible to send up any more spray. One of our fence panels blew down, but SM has nailed it very firmly back in place. I saw my mother yesterday and she seemed totally unperturbed, apart from remarking that it was funny how the government only seemed to notice the floods when they were in Berkshire.
In the post I made last Sunday I mentioned a new work that had reached 3,000 words. It's now just under 12,500 words and is trying to take over my life. I am on the fifth and final chapter, after which it will need a lot of editing. I am extremely grateful to
impishtubist for all her assistance with this over the past week. To put this into context it is only 150 words shorter than the longest fic I've ever written, and that took me months.
In other news, SM was delighted with his Valentine's Day present, and said he'd never received anything like it before. Understandable, not many husbands were lucky enough to receive a rolo packet wrapped in yellow paper and decorated to look like a pencil, complete with silver foil wrapped chocolate for the point. Guess what we made at Brownies the night before.
And now, since we seem to have drunk the wine, I shall go to bed. Hope you all have a good week, and to those of my flist suffering from the weather, in the words of Hill Street Blues "Let's be careful out there!"
