Half term approaches, which means we have a week off from Brownies.  I'm quite pleased; much as I enjoy it, by the end of a half term I'm ready for a break.

Last night we held a jewellry making evening.  We gave them lots of beads and let them make whatever they fancied - necklaces, bracelets, even keyrings.  A nice easy evening for us and one that they all enjoyed.  I now have a key chain attached to my handbag that one of the Brownies gave me.

We are in the middle of celebrating 100 years of Brownies and undertaking the Big Brownie Challenge.  One of the challenges was to look at what they want to be when they grow up, so last week we got them to draw pictures of themselves in the future and then see how their career would be of use to the others in the six.  We had a variety of careers, from teachers, hairdressers, waitresses and cooks, to zookeepers, authors and pop stars.  We finished by playing games with a job theme.

All that remains is for me to write my article for the local magazine.  At least the subject will be easy; a sleepover in the museum will probably surprise a few who still think of Brownies as being very boring.  In addition, one of our Brownies decided, entirely by herself, to produce a leaflet to celebrate the Big Brownie Birthday.  She has agreed that we may include part of it within the article.

Brownies is a fun place to go.  Brownies play games, have sleepovers, go places.  It is great fun!  You get a sash to put all of your badges on.  You have to sew them on so you don't lose them.  Brownies have to wear Brownie uniform so everyone knows you are a Brownie.  If you want to join us it is great fun!
