The Friday Five: Past and Present

1. What were you doing in 2001? 2011?
In 2001 I was working part-time with two school age kids, one teenage boy (no further description necessary) one ten year old girl, who had just started Guides.
In 2011 we had just moved to Gloucester, and although I was still working at the same job (different from ten years previous) I was getting used to everything else being new. I had just started at my current Brownie pack. I remained a mother, but by now one was working for a local coach company and the other was at uni training as a paedeatric nurse.
2. What's something you've kept going for over a decade?
Breathing. Guiding. Being a mother (turns out I still have my uses). Husband. Involvement in fandom/writing fanfics - although the specifics changes.
3. What's an anniversary you want to mark down and celebrate?
Ignoring all the major ones (significant birthdays, wedding anniversaries, birth of mini Hobbit) because they're a given, I'd say 31 March 2021, the day I took early retirement, which has given me so much freedom.
4. What would your past self think of your present self?
I have no real idea, although I think I'd be pleased at the way I'd turned out.
5. What was the first online communality that you loved?
LiveJournal, which gave me a way into meeting new people both virtually and physically who I'd never have met otherwise.
