The Year Draws To A Close
Jul. 13th, 2018 05:05 pmOur last two Brownie meetings!
Last week the girls played parachute games, and then did some craft work, making a bracelet and decorating a jewellery box. They enjoyed the activities and had things to take home.
In addition the new Guider was able to come and meet both the Brownies and the leaders, which was good. She's very enthusiastic and competent and has run a pack for seven years so will have no problem taking over. All of which is excellent news as far as I'm concerned, because I can take a step back and turn up on a night and help, which is all I really want to do.
I have got a couple of events booked. One's a jewellery making party, which should be fun. The other ties in with UK Parliament Week in November, for which we get sent a kit and run activities to do with the role of parliament. In the centenerary of the first women finally getting the vote it seems important that the Brownies do learn something.
This week we went to a local craft shop, which runs classes, and the Brownies made tutus out of tulle. They made excellent tutus, some with a limited colour range, others were multi-coloured. A very successful ending to the year.
One blip, as far as I was concerned, was our Guider-in-training, who is one of our mums. She began to help her daughter, and then started doing it all herself, at the same time not helping one of the other girls. That annoyed me, but if that's how she's going to be I need to remind myself to not get involved.
Two of the Brownies are moving up to Guides. One brought chocolates to share with the whole pack. The other gave me a card and a small box of chocolates just for me. The card said "Thank you. I loved my time at Brownies."
