My next three words were from [personal profile] annofowlshire

Summer

I like summer.  The weather is generally better, although yes it rains, and I'm not a great fan of the heat, but overall I need to wear less clothes, can dry the washing outside, and potter around in the outdoors, all of which are distinctive plusses.  Summer also means a break from activities, no Brownies, and this year I've deliberately chosen to restrict my church commitments to have a proper break.  It also means days out, breaks away when it's possible to just wander rather than determinedly head from one destination to another.  So summer is good and great for recharging the batteries.  All that being said, my favourite season is still autumn.

"OTP"

Where would we be without our OTPs?  Retirement era Holmes/Watson, Lucas/Adam, Thorin/Bilbo, Sam/Gene, Robbie/James, McCoy/Rudybago.  The pairing which makes sense to us, even if no-one else agrees.  But that's the thing - I have no right to complain about your OTP, even if it doesn't work for me.  I look for certain things within a relationship, which may be different from anyone else's, so here truth is not an absolute, but true to what I look for.  Which is why my OTP for BBC Sherlock is Sherlock/Stanley Hopkins (Met River Police) where both have something they can offer/they need which to my mind is not met elsewhere.

London

City of my birth (Charing Cross Hospital of Holmes' fame), and first six years.  I returned after university, met SM and we got married in Holy Trinity, Brompton, before moving to Newbury on then further west.  Now I return for weekends to go to the theatre and exhibitions, plus my annual three day mini break.  I like London for what it offers, but I'm also aware that it is very much an island and there is a mentality which fails to see anything which happens in the rest of England (let alone Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland) as of much importance.

I appreciate your thoughts on summer, though autumn is my favorite too. London! Oh, I would like to see it one day! But I have my miniature wooden set of landmarks until then. I also appreciate your attitude toward OTPs. I am of course partial to Bones/Rudybago.

I love Summer in the UK, especially May and June.

Charing X is my local large hospital, which has thankfully seen off various threats to its existence over the years.

But, wait. What is this 'rest of England' of which you speak?

London was just about as far away and exotic as anywhere could get when I was a child in Northumberland! We had relations there and I first visited when I was five. We drove, in my father's first car, and it took us three days... So I've always been aware of that London mindset and have never shared it!

I love summer - fewer clothes, permanently open windows, pretty trees and flowers. I used to love it when I was teaching because of the holidays!

OTPs? I agree that my OTP in any particular fandom might not be yours or anyone else's. But I have to say that when I'm reading, I'm happy to read any pairing provided the author makes me believe in it for the duration of the story.

I miss the English summers of my memory before global warming and really high temperatures became a regular occurrence.

London-I think big cities tend to think they're all that, and capital cities even more so. :(
