I had great fun with this!

Firstly, [personal profile] stonepicnicking_okapi asked:

The Ferret and Rudybago go to a sporting event (your choice what kind). Which one bets on the results? Which one thinks they're going to bored but end up getting into it and buying all the swag (t-shirts, commemorative mugs, foam finger, etc.)? Does anyone get in a fight in the stands?

In one of the bizarre events of the Space-Time continuum, Dr McCoy and Dr Watson ended up playing in a rugby match together.  Rudybago had said he would go to the match to support McCoy and the Ferret had gone to watch Dr Watson.

They had just made their way to the front of the stands, when the Ferret announced he wished to place a bet.  So, they went back out and the Ferret placed his bet.  Rudybago had assumed it would be on the doctors’ team winning, but in fact the Ferret’s bet was that Dr Watson wouldn’t finish the match.  “He hasn’t done any training at all,” the Ferret explained.

Rudybago, who only ever laid a bet on a dead cert, decided to do the same for Dr McCoy.  “And if all else fails, I shall provide sufficient distraction to bring him off,” he said.   The Ferret approved of this ploy.

They had had to pass the stall selling merchandise, and initially Rudybago had thought that was a waste of money, but then he spotted the foam fingers and bought ten.  The stallholder looked surprised but wasn’t going to refuse a sale.  Rudybago then looked at the Ferret and asked for a pair of socks as well.

Back in the stands, Rudybago quickly cut holes in one of the socks, and the Ferret wriggled inside, so he was wearing his own t-shirt.  Then Rudybago took up the foam fingers on his tentacles and they were ready for the match.

Much to Rudybago’s surprise, he had a great time.  Neither side were very good; clearly Dr Watson wasn’t the only one who hadn’t done any training.  But everybody cheered and the only trouble came when a couple of supporters, who had clearly had too much to drink, tried to muscle their way into the first row.  At that moment Rudybago apparently got too excited and waved his foam fingers a little too enthusiastically knocking both men out.  Nobody was bothered though.

As for the bets: the referee decided all the players were too tired to continue and brought the match to a premature end.  At first the bookie refused to pay out, but the Ferret smiled at him, showing his very sharp teeth and the bookie rapidly changed his mind.

Next, [personal profile] luthienberen said

Bilbo Baggins and Eeyore Watson go with the Ocelot for a cinema showing of old Universal Classics, (such as The Wolf Man 1941 etc.). Who is afraid / loves it / bored?

The Ocelot has a love of old classic films and was totally enthralled.  He’s watched them so often, he can join in with all the dialogue if he wants to, and even though he has a large DVD collection, he still enjoys seeing them on the big screen, in the manner they were originally designed to be seen.

Bilbo Baggins is also a fan, but when at home he watches them from behind the sofa.  He had thought of bringing a cushion with him to hide behind at the scariest points, and rather reluctantly had decided against the idea.  It turned out that instead he is able to duck behind Eeyore whenever it becomes too frightening.

Meanwhile Eeyore placidly watches, muttering every so often, “That’s ridiculous” and “I’ve seen more scary things in my thistle patch.”  Even when the werewolf looms large on the screen Eeyore simply says, “That reminds me of when Christopher Robin hung up a sheet and we took it in turns to make silly shapes behind it.”

And [personal profile] scfrankles wanted to know:

Lucas North, Sherlock Holmes and Stanley Hopkins are wallpapering the parlour. Who has chosen the design of the paper? Who ends up doing all the work? Who gets glued to the wall... and why?

Owing to a minor miscalculation, or a particularly stupid mistake, depending on who you listened to, the parlour of 221B needing wallpapering before Mrs Hudson returned from her holiday.  Stanley had agreed to help Sherlock and had dragged Lucas along when the latter had happened to mention he was at a loose end that weekend.

The choice of wallpaper was ultimately Sherlock’s, although only after Stanley had veto-ed his first three suggestions.

All three set to work, but then Sherlock got distracted and hung a strip of wallpaper over the door.  Lucas, having gone to mix up some more wallpaper paste, burst through the wallpapered door and cursed loudly at being enveloped in the dislodged strip.

Sherlock made the mistake of suggesting it would perhaps be wiser if he didn’t continue.  The comment was greeted with derision and instead Stanley and Lucas sat on the sofa to eat their lunch while insisting Sherlock continue hanging the paper, giving him helpful suggestions as he did so.

In the end, the room was wallpapered to a reasonable standard and Stanley and Lucas went to the pub, leaving Sherlock to clean up.  Or not, they didn’t have to live there, so they weren’t particularly bothered.

Lastly, [personal profile] corvidology asked

2 and 5 have arranged to spend the weekend at a country house. 10, 15, 3 and 6 are also staying there when the power goes out.

What did 8 do?

I have left the numbers in place to entice you across to AO3:

When Detective Worlds Collide

Oh wow! More crossover fun! I really really love Rudybago and Ferret at the rugby match. And the image of Rudybago with 10 foam fingers is hilarious. And Ferret in a sock!

I love it ^__^ And I see what you mean about it being relatively straightforward - my choices did rather naturally go together ^^"

I have to say the response to Okapi's prompt is the pick of the bunch though - so much wonderful imagery ^___^ (And one rather cheeky line? :P)

Oh this is delightful! I love how their reactions suit their characters perfectly. I would love to see a run of old Universal films with them: Bilbo to hide behind a cushion when required, the Ocelot to share the fun and Eeyore Watson for grounding. :D
