Sunshine Challenge Post #1

I'm not sure about this, but we'll see how it goes:



Three things which are red:

1. Iconic London buses

Which sadly I won't be seeing this summer, as I'm not spending my regular few days in London going to the theatre, museums and other activities.  I am sad because it was something I always looked forward to.  I have a refund for the accommodation, my ticket for Singing in the Rain at Sadler's Wells has been transferred to next year, and I have a ticket voucher rather than a refund for Hello Dolly (that was my choice, the theatre can hang onto my money for the moment).


2. Blood

A vital constituent of our bodies, and also tends to appear in a lot of my writing - both casefic and hurt/comfort.  There it's more of a bi-product, I'm not a fan of graphic violence but it cannot be ignored.


3. SM's car

Currently off the road because we don't need two vehicles while he's on furlough and I'm working from home.

Oh, that Lucas North fic was lovely! (I feel his pain. Red isn't my favorite color, either, though it's very pretty.)

"Any Colour but Red" is perfect for this prompt. (I don't know the fandom, but I can totally relate to that "How do I say something nice about this present I hate?" moment.)

And apparently I need to go read an A A Milne book because I'd never heard of The Red House Mystery (but it appears to be free on Gutenberg).

The fic is based rather more on my head canon than the actual fandom, but I too have had the 'must be polite about the gift' experience.

The A A Milne book is a fun mystery if you like classic detective stories.

Oh the red double deckers are certainly iconic! I'm sorry things have worked out such that you can't go this year. My partner works primarily in Broadway and this has been a year.

I'm fortunate in that although I'm missing theatre I still have an income, so my disappointment is minor compared to those whose livelihood relies on the arts.

Ah, I love "Any Colour but Red." It is such a Lucas fic. It is my #2 fave (after EGGS, of course!] I did not know y'all have a red car. I would like to see one of those buses in RL.

I am going to do this challenge, too, but I seem to be behind with everything.

An interesting challenge and some interesting responses:) It wouldn't be easy to get inside Francis Dolarhyde's head but you've done it remarkably well, and I do like your other red examples too.

I debated about the challenge but then thought it would be different.

I read Red Dragon before I watched Bryan Fuller's Hannibal, which I think helped. I'm glad you liked them.
