Three things which are blue:

1. The sea and the sky

Yes, I know the sky isn't really blue and can be black and grey and ...  And similarly the sea isn't blue, the Blue Danube is a myth put about by Johann Strauss II, and in fact water in general isn't blue.  But that's the conventional colour, and if you draw a map the water is shown as blue.


2.  My clothing

Blue is my favourite colour - it always has been, with the occasional temporary blip.  By default I wear blue clothes.  If I wear a different colour it's a deliberate choice.  For instance, I have a number of red coats/jackets but each time it's been a specific choice.


3.  Girlguiding uniform

In the UK Brownies wear brown and yellow (makes them easy to spot in a crowd) and Rainbows wear red, but from Guides up to adults the uniform is blue.  I'm an Assistant Leader in a Brownie pack, and have been in a leadership role for about 16 years.  I began with Guides, taking the traditional way in (the daughter's guide unit needed an assistant leader), and I ended up running the unit, before a change of job meant I didn't have the time.  After which I joined the local Brownie pack, helped set up a new Guide unit and we then moved to Gloucester, where I joined my current pack nine years ago.

I don't think I knew blue was your favorite colour. I like all of those fics/series and remember them.

Yes - I've always liked blue. And thank you - I'm glad you liked them.

The girl guides wear blue in Canada too, at least they did when I was a kid. I was a Brownie for two years, but dropped out before reaching the level of guide.

It's not unusual for our girls to drop out of guiding when they leave Brownies (which for us is age 7-10). Some will go onto Guides (age 10-14) but others find they have different demands on their time as they are growing older and don't continue.

I suspect that blue may be the most popular of 'favourite' colours. It has such a range of shades and such pleasant associations.

I've always found blue works well for clothing because it tends to go well with most other colors. Some colors you have to put a bit more effort into making sure the rest of your outfit doesn't look weird together. (Throughout my teens I refused to wear anything other than denim jeans. It was my version of a security blanket. I can't explain it.)

I totally agree. And doesn't require any brainpower when getting dressed for work.

Blue seems to suit me more than most other colours so I tend to automatically choose it for my clothes more often than not. It's such a pretty colour though and seems to be a favourite of a lot of people.

There are so many different shades to choose from. I'm always drawn to it when I'm shopping for clothes.

I had so much fun when I was a Brownie and a Guide, I learned so much and made so many friends. It was an amazing experience. I hope it's as fantastic for your girls as well

I love blue and it's my favourite but oddly I have very few blue clothes. O_o
To me the sky and sea will always be associated with blue.

How strange - blue is definitely my default colour when buying clothes.

Yes, I think it's the best colour for sea and sky (and in general!)
