Three things which are indigo nope, let's go for rainbow instead:

1.  The classic rainbow in the sky

Sun through the rain.  I'm not an eternal optimist, but I am generally glass half full.  I also don't fit smoothly into a lot of groups I belong to, because the rainbow inside me isn't just one or two colours.  It may also explain why I will change memes/challenges when they don't quite fit what I want to do - on the basis it won't spoil things for other people.


2.  Currently the symbol for support of the NHS

I have very personal connections to the NHS.  My daughter-in-law is a nurse in our local hospital.  My daughter up to three months ago was a pediatric nurse in a hospital in Warwick.  She's now a student paramedic training with West Midlands Ambulance Service.


3.  Pride

I am white, and het.  I also believe that all people, no matter what race or sexual orientation, or anything else, should be equal.  And I am trying to live that way.

2. Go NHS!
Why did she choose to do the paramedics rather than nursing?

She'd wanted to be a nurse since she was nine, but then when she was drawn to being a paramedic. However, she couldn't get a place to train when she left college at 18, so went into pediatric nursing instead, which was still a strong second choice. From there she moved into pediatric A&E, but it was a smaller hospital, so she was the sole pediatric nurse on duty, and she felt unsupported, finally returning to the pediatric ward. At the same time she was starting to apply as a student paramedic (she'd taken a driving course so she could drive an ambulance), got accepted and at the beginning of May began her training.

She likes variety in her work, and never knowing quite what's going to be next.

It can't have been fun being the only pedi nurse in the ER.
Good for her, following her dreams, then. Good luck to her.

It got to her in the end. If she had no children she was supposed to help in the main A&E, which she was happy to do, at times taking on roles above her own level. But if she needed help no-one would do so.

Yes, this was her dream and she's prepared to work for it. Thank you.
