Drabbles for Sunshine Challenge
Aug. 2nd, 2020 06:41 pm
I received five requests for drabbles when I posted my response to this prompt. My responses are:
“I was thinking perhaps a walk,” Aziraphale said.
“A walk?” Crowley sounded dubious.
“Yes, a walk, in the country somewhere. You could drive us and then we could find a bubbling brook, in a flower strewn meadow and walk together. Maybe even hold hands.”
Crowley wrinkled his nose. It didn’t sound like much fun to him.
Aziraphale continued. “And we could take a picnic basket; they do such lovely hampers in Fortnum and Masons. We’d have to take the picnic blanket, of course.”
“I can think of a good use for the blanket.”
Aziraphale nodded happily. “I thought you would.”
Sherlock Holmes (ACD) Holmes & Watson with the prompt 'sugared violets.' for
I was surprised to see a tin of sugared violets sitting on the table when I returned one afternoon and wondered whether Hopkins had inadvertently left it. I had started to reach out when Holmes urgently called, “Don’t touch them, Watson.”
Clearly someone was either trying to poison Holmes, or he was experimenting on the sweets.
“It was easy,” Holmes said. “Each violet is soaked in poison and then used to decorate an individual cake. The lucky recipient, thrilled at such a gift, eats the cake, and dies within minutes. No-one suspects anything because the other cakes are quite safe.”
Character A only ever uses Character B's nickname until an important moment where A uses B's real name for
“Come on, Sunshine,” the man called, “I don’t want to be late.”
The man addressed as Sunshine glared. Quite how his partner had settled on that particular nickname was a mystery to all concerned. He was a taciturn individual, whose history had left him less inclined to smile and radiate happiness than anyone else on the team. ‘Sunshine’ made his way out to the car.
After about half an hour’s driving they arrived at their destination.
“Out you hop, Sunshine!” the driver said.
The other man walked round and got down on one knee. “Lucas North, will you marry me?”
It might be nice to write yourself a drabble. Something of the "this idea will work for about a hundred words and nothing more" idea for
Lucas looked over at the park bench where he had arranged to meet Adam for lunch. To his disappointment he saw Adam in animated conversation with a man in a black suit. Lucas’ heart sank; he had made a point of going to a bakery which he knew made the best sandwiches in the area, and now it appeared he had wasted his time.
Then he saw another man limping towards the bench, and, as Lucas approached, heard him say, “Mr Reese, time we were getting on.”
As Reese stood up, Adam turned his head towards Lucas and smiled broadly.
Something from the point of view of the Tardis for
The TARDIS hummed to herself. It was a pleasant, warm day which suited her very nicely. She was strongly built, but she still noticed the battering she sustained as she travelled through time and space, and the inclement weather they frequently encountered. So a day when it was simply warm and they were staying in one place was to be enjoyed.
It wouldn’t last, of course. Her Doctor had a habit of finding trouble and instead of making the sensible decision and retreating, he would insist on facing it head on, but, for now, she would bask in the sunshine.

Date: 2020-08-02 07:27 pm (UTC)Yay! All lovely! I love the TARDIS fic, but I also love the Good Omens one and poor Watson really is doomed to be accidentally poisoned in his own home one day.
