Beads and Rockets

We've had two more zoom Brownie meetings, which continue to go well - lots of enthusiastic Brownies.

Last week Peacock led a week on friendship, what makes a good friend and what do they like doing with their friends when they're able to do so.  They were then going to make friendship bracelets, but we decided that would be too complicated, so they made beaded bracelets, with packets of beads having been distributed.  They all seemed happy doing it, and told various (generally fairly dire) jokes as they did so.

This week Flamingo led a session on space, and the different skills needed to launch a space shuttle.  It highlighted the importance of STEM skills, but in a fun way, so there were Spot the Differences (turns out the Brownies are better at it that me!), mazes to solve, a very complicated model of a space shuttle to cut out and glue together, and then emoji maths.  They all seemed to enjoy it.  We had another of our Brownies join the zoom session this week, so we're up to 18, which is very good.

We continue to sing at the beginning and end of meetings, which continues to be an interesting experience, with sometimes some of them a whole line ahead of others, but never mind!

I think it is - I always feel tired afterwards, but it's a good sort of tired.

It really is lovely that you're making this available to the girls as I'm sure they all need an outlet and the encouragement to think about new things.

I think they do - there certainly seems to be the enthusiasm, both from the girls and from the parents who have to get them set up every week. And it does give them something else to think about.

I'm sure your Brownies look forward to the sessions each week and it's great they enjoy them and accomplish so much. That's all thanks to you and your colleagues, you are doing a wonderful job.

Oh yes. The brownies enjoyed it which was the main thing.

I think they do. They're happy which is what keeps us going.

Yes - about one-third of ours are in school at least some of the time, so I'm sure it does help.

The space session sounds really fun and full of complicated yet compelling activities :) It is good that the girls have such a range of topics presented to them by their hard working leaders! That the numbers have gone up is a testament to all your skills x

I think we're all very keen to encourage them with 'This girl can' and to show that there are lots of options around. We're very pleased that there are so many wanting to take part.

I'm glad that the Brownie Zoom meetings continue to go well. I'm impressed that the Brownie leaders are able to organize and lead activities involving crafts over Zoom. The beaded bracelets were a really good idea. It sounds like Flamingo's session on space was also a great success, especially if all the girls enjoyed it. It's pretty funny about the singing, but at least all of the girls are participating. *g*

Thank you - yes, the Brownies continue to enjoy the variety of activities. They never were very good at singing at the best of times, so it's probably no surprise that it's like it is :)
