smallhobbitYesterday I had another Dare to Dabble session, this time the official monthly one. The theme was pastels and we began by learning to mix the pastels, by applying two colours beside each other on the paper and then mixing them together with a finger:
Once we had the idea we were able to start on a picture. The woman running it provided a form of paper, like tracing paper, so we could reproduce a picture of, say, a robin and then colour it ourselves. Some went with the robin, others chose flowers and I said I wanted to do my own picture, and experiment with using the pastels. Although she said this was fine, I got the sense that this wasn't actually the intention, because although she helped the others she left me entirely to my own devices. This is unusual in a dabble class, because generally we're encouraged to do our own thing, and whoever's leading will still provide helpful suggestions.
Anyway, I worked on a seascape, and when I took it home SM said it reminded him of one of the places we had visited when we were in Wales, which was really good, as I'd had it at the back of my mind when I was creating it.
