We went to a number of museums while we were away.

There was the Black Watch Museum, which looked at the history over 300+ years.  This is the memorial for the soldiers over the years:

When we were in Kirkcaldy we visited their art museum, which was very hands on and I enjoyed making a picture using magnetic pieces:

Dundee was the home of jute production with many jute factories in the Victorian era.  The Travelodge we stayed in was a converted jute factory.  We went to the Verdant Works, which told about the history and production of jute and was very interesting.

The McManus Museum in Dundee was fascinating - we went one afternoon and then had to visit the following afternoon as we hadn't had time to see everything.

It has paintings and artefacts covering the history of the city - this is the Battle of Neuve Chappelle (WWI)

Right up to recent years:

Not forgetting the famous 'son' of Dundee, from D C Thompson:

Dennis the Menace is difficult to explain in the US as they have a comic strip Dennis the Menace who's actually quite a nice lad who causes chaos accidentally and not by design.

It looks like you visited some great museums! It's cool that your hotel was a converted jute factory. Based on your photos, I can see why you needed to make a return visit to the McManus Museum.
