D-Day Remembered Days 1 and 2
Jun. 29th, 2024 06:10 pmI'm back from my second battlefields trip this year. This time it was a tour commemorating those who took part in the D-Day landings, since it is now 80 years since they happened.
This time we began on this side of the English Channel, where the build up took place and where some of the armada set sail.

Beginning with the naval memorial in Portsmouth:

There's a museum which has an original LCT (tank landing craft):

The following day, before travelling over to Normandy we visited the Gosport military cemetery:

And one of the areas where the tanks were loaded onto the LCTs
