I'm back from my second battlefields trip this year.  This time it was a tour commemorating those who took part in the D-Day landings, since it is now 80 years since they happened.

This time we began on this side of the English Channel, where the build up took place and where some of the armada set sail.

Beginning with the naval memorial in Portsmouth:

   

There's a museum which has an original LCT (tank landing craft):

   

The following day, before travelling over to Normandy we visited the Gosport military cemetery:



And one of the areas where the tanks were loaded onto the LCTs

I saw the naval memorial in Portsmouth many, many years ago, but I didn't visit the museum (if it was around back then). It's cool that the museum has an original LCT. You took some beautiful photos in the Gosport military cemetery. I particularly like that one of the D-Day bench.

Love the pictures, and I'm glad you have nice weather in France, judging from the blue sky in the last pic. Normandy can be a bit challenging, weatherwise.
