clearly hadn't allowed for the Brownies being unable to draw straight lines between two points or cut in straight lines.  We were making pumpkins out of paper strips - which required them to holepunch a hole at either end of the strip.  Very easy, unless your strip is wobbly and one end isn't wide enough to put a hole in.  And, possibly, you haven't been listening in the first place.  But in the end they all went home with a vaguely pumpkin shaped item and the only one who cut themselves with the scissors was Sparkly Owl.

Got home to some good news - my son had passed his exams and is now a fully qualified transport manager.

The daughter phoned - moaned at me because I have used up all my leave so can't go Christmas shopping with her - at least it'll be cheaper for me that way!  She's enjoying her new job, especially when she's busy (no surprise there then).  She's still supposed to only be assisting at the moment, but they were short-staffed so she had to do rather more.

SM walked in just before Person of Interest was about to start, carrying chips.  So I passed the phone over to him, shared the chips and settled down to watch.  A satisfying evening.

As an aside, we watched the new Poirot the previous evening, which was written by Mark Gatiss and Ian Hallard.  It began with a policeman (Japp), an ex-army captain (Hastings) and an elderly lady (Miss Lemon) attending the funeral for the deceased detective (Poirot).  Was I alone in thinking Gatiss was trying out the beginning of the next Sherlock series?
