I know that you've all been waiting with bated breath for the next update on the activities of 1st Kingsway Brownies.  Amazingly, all six new girls continue to attend and join in with everything.  Normally you will find one or two new girls are quiet, but none of this lot are.

Last week to celebrate Cheltenham races, we had a race night - with a difference.  There was a dressing up race, we played a variation of "fishes" with horse names, and we played "beetle" with horses instead of beetles.  The enthusiastic cheering on would have rivalled the crowd at Cheltenham.  The only difference being no drink and no betting.  The drink, you will not be surprised to learn, was consumed by the leaders on their return home.

This week we worked on our Culture badge.  We began this a few weeks ago with the pancake party and will finish it with the museum sleepover.  Yesterday the girls drew pictures of what makes up their everyday lifes, friends, favourite food (who knew pizza would come out on top), various sporting activities and musical lessons, and favourite bands (all but one chose 1Direction - the one who didn't was adamant she didn't like them).  And then they made simple family trees, by drawing the tree outline and putting relatives on leaves.  "I've finished," said one.  "Don't you have any brothers or sisters?" I asked.  "Oh yes," she said, having conveniently forgotten her brother.

The museum sleepover is fully booked - again great enthusiasm, by the end of last week we only had two spaces left (one dad, whose daughter was away on school residential, made the effort to bring the form in - I said they were enthusiastic), and the two remaining spaces were snapped up this week.  I'm particularly pleased that one of our shyer Brownies, who had initially been unsure, was sufficiently concerned because she will be just ten that she made her mother check that she could come.  This is the girl who was really nervous coming on the day trip to Cadbury World last summer, so it's great to see how much she's grown.
