Robbie Lewis and the Dragon - A Modern Legend
This was written for last year's Spook Me Ficathon and unusually for me has supernatural elements. I am quite fond of dragons, so I'd chosen to have a dragon as my picture prompt.
Why am I proud of it? Because I wrote it as a modern legend - to me, it is more than just a simple story. Many fairy tales hint of something darker, something that the hero/heroine will need to overcome and not just in the physical sense. This dragon is terrifying, not because it is eating cows/maidens but of what it wants and the power it has. Nevertheless Robbie Lewis is determined to overcome it.
“In my day,” Lewis said “dragons were defeated by knights in shining armour who rescued damsels in distress. You may not be a damsel and my armour is somewhat rusty, but between us both, we are going to defeat this dragon.”
