Wordage 2014
Dec. 30th, 2014 08:44 pmWith a number of my flist planning on signing up for
getyourwordsout I decided to look at how much I wrote in 2014. My current total is 108,635 and I have a train journey tomorrow. Not all of these are posted words, since I've included all those for my 12 Days of Christmas stories, but to my mind this is quite an impressive total. I discovered that I made a similar post at the end of 2013, which gave my total posted words as 70,053. So, even though this presumably didn't include the approximately 6,000 words towards my Small Fandom Big Bang (I have included this year's 6,300 words in my total) I seem to have written approximately half again the previous years wordage.
Which might bode well for me to aim for the minimum 150,000 wordage for next year, but for two issues. One is that I'm seriously considering cutting back on the various fandom challenges I write for, although I intend to continue with
fan_flashworks because it keeps my brain working and forces me to think 'outside the box'. The other is, as I explained to
draycevixen, my inherent tendency to rebel when forced to do something for a length of time. I managed 30 days of
mini_wrimo, anything longer than that and I bail out.
My daughter gave me a diary for Christmas, so I thought I would use that to keep track of what I was writing, which might mean I don't have to spend ages adding my words at the end of the year. Of course, there's no guarantee I'll manage that either.
Lastly, two reassurances for
scfrankles. Firstly, I will be continuing with writing 60 words every week for
sherlock60. For those of you who aren't Frankles, we start Round 4 on Sunday 18 January, this time working through in the order the ACD stories were first posted. In addition we shall be having Mrs Hudson's Poetry Page - one post every week, all poems to be posted as comments.
And secondly, message from the Ocelot: your story will be written a lot faster once we get past the bit where Mouselet keeps sniffing.
ETA: There is one day still available if anyone would like a ficlet. Now taken by
