Positive Things Meme, Day 4

This really should have been posted yesterday, but we only got home just before the carriage became a pumpkin and the white horses shrank and became unwelcome in the house.

Firstly, I received my acd_holmesfest assignment.  I am delighted, because it means I can write the sort of story I like writing, and extremely nervous, because of who my recipient is and I really hope I can do them justice.

Secondly, I'd had a note through the door to say that there was a parcel for collection at the post office.  I was surprised because I wasn't expecting anything.  SM picked it up for me and I was none the wiser when he gave it to me, until I saw it was a present from kestrel337.  She's sent me a beautiful Watson's Blue Carbuncle rose.  It's made of stiffened paper with some of the text from A Study in Scarlet on the back of the petals.  It was completely unexpected and absolutely delightful.

Thirdly, we went to a concert in Caerleon, near Newport in Wales, because vix_spes was playing Vaughn Williams The Lark Ascending.  It was really beautiful to listen to her and I'm so pleased we were able to go.  The whole concert was good; it had a Last Night of the Proms theme, so the concert ended as we sang Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory, waving our flags, more or less in time with the music and then all stood to join in with Jerusalem.
