This should be a longer post, but I'm tired and I want to get it done tonight.  Anyway, I spent the weekend at [livejournal.com profile] broadstairsbacc with seven other people, talking about lots of fandoms, drinking wine and there was a fair amount of eating going on too.  The meal in the Thai restaurant on the Saturday evening was particularly enjoyable.

I got to meet some people I had been in contact with via the interwebs and some others as well, which is always good.  Particular mention should go to [livejournal.com profile] moonlightmead who I met in Paddington station to share the onward journey to Broadstairs.  We both have dire effects on the railway network, but it appeared that our influences, when combined, negated one another and the journeys were good.  Either that on the entire rail network will fall apart for the next week.  We also shared a room, and despite her assertion that she goes to bed at nine o'clock, we were still talking at midnight.

There were a lot of interesting talks and discussions, several of which, I have to admit included references to fandoms that I have no knowledge of.  For me, probably the best was the discussion around the appeal of buddy cops - led beautifully by [livejournal.com profile] margaret_r ably assisted by [livejournal.com profile] kat_lair (the organiser) who found lots of pretty pictures for us to admire.

There were so many talks, that I ducked out of one so that I could go to the beach.  After all, I couldn't go to Broadstairs without paddling.  The beach is lovely - the sand goes on and on.  I walked a fair distance one way and then returned along the prom, leaving myself only sufficient time to make it to the restaurant at the same time as everyone else.

My thanks to all who were involved in any way, apologies for failing to mention you all, but it appears I have a story to write for the [livejournal.com profile] lewis_challenge Fright Fest.  I hold you all responsible.
