Writing, Pluses and Minuses
Feb. 28th, 2015 09:16 pmI posted my latest story to
fan_flashworks yesterday. It's BBC Sherlock and Victor Trevor/Sherlock Holmes. I received a comment asking who Victor Trevor was, as they couldn't find him on the Sherlock IMDB. I explained that he was originally created by ACD. The reply was that I should consider saying this was bookverse, not BBC Sherlock, as VT wasn't a character in Sherlock.
Apart from the fact that Victor/Sherlock (Viclock) is accepted in a certain corner of the BBC Sherlock fandom (I know it's not everybody's pairing, but it's a free world), I am non-plused on a number of accounts. Firstly 'bookverse' - not a term I'm used to, most references I know are for ACD Holmes. Secondly, given the rest of the story is clearly set in modern London, how on earth would it fit the Victorian era? And lastly, surely I am doing exactly what Moffatt and Gatiss do, bringing up to date one of the original characters? I haven't replied to the second comment.
On a different note, yesterday, with Leonard Nimoy's sad death,
classics_lover posted a prompt to
comment_fic I wrote a drabble in response, which I have since posted to AO3. I've had some lovely comments. The Final Journey
And finally: I completed the second chapter of The Photograph of Choice Which I thought meant it was completed. Until a commentator asked to see Mycroft's response when he received it. And the bunnies started biting.
