Holiday Planning
Feb. 18th, 2018 03:58 pmWith all the problems with my mother we decided we'd finally sort out our main holiday, which we'll be taking next October. The difficulty with being married to a Teaching Assistant is being restricted to school holidays, and city breaks aren't much fun during the summer, so October it is. I've now booked sufficient holidays to use up a year's annual leave, wherever I end up working.
First up, the daughter and I are going on a coach tour at the end of April to some of the WWI battlefields. It's something I've been wanting to do for the last few years, SM wasn't that interested, but the daughter was keen to go again (she went on a school trip years ago), so she and I are going together. The son recently got back from taking a school trip to the region - he found it very interesting, and got to go to a new museum he'd not visited before. He also nearly got stuck in the snow, something daughter and I hope to avoid.
Then SM and I are going to Cambridge for a couple of days. It's somewhere we've been talking about going to, and having been to York last year we thought we'd try another destination for the May half-term.
I'm having my usual few days in London in August. I've already got a ticket for 'Hamilton' which I bought when they released the new dates. I'm also going to see 'The Lieutenant of Innishmore' with Aidan Turner. I shall no doubt book for another play or two, plus some exhibitions nearer the time.
And finally the real excitement - we're going to Vienna. Another place on our bucket list. We haven't yet decided what we're going to visit while we're there, but we have guidebooks ready to read through. And I've been recommended the Sacher-Torte from CH Demel’s Söhne K.U.K Hofzuckerbäcker.
