Craft - Month 5

It feels like I haven't done that much this month, but I began with a little owl (because I thought he was cute):



And I knitted a little heart to give to my mother:



I also began my Christmas decorations, which aren't progressing as fast as I'd hoped.  Here's the toy soldier and his companion:

 

And then I took a picture of how far I've got with my granddaughter's Christmas jumper, and realised that was where the time had gone!


 In addition, this afternoon I went to a tea and chat meet for Dare to Dabble, which is hopefully going to go ahead in some form or other next month.  It was a beautiful afternoon, so we sat outside and then wandered round the garden.

The jumper is gorgeous! I was never too good at fairisle, I have a bad habit of pulling too tight. It's why I always use swiss darning for picture sweaters. I get a better result.

Thank you very much. I'm pleased with the way the jumper is turning out. I changed three of the colours, so I have to be careful not to get confused with what to use when!

Fantastic knitting! I’m still churning out plain socks XD As I finish each pair I tell myself I’m going to do something different, but it feels like too much work... so on goes another sock.

I love that jumper you're knitting for your granddaughter. I still have some my mother knitted for me as a teenager and I can't imagine ever giving them away.

Lovely knitting! Your granddaughter will look great in the jumper and I love the soldier, my son had one like that and kept it for years, in fact I think he still has it (he's 38 by the way*g*)

Gorgeous colourwork on the jumper!! I have trouble stranding the colours in the back at the appropriate tension so it doesn't pucker oddly. Your work is stunning, and I love all the little items, too.

Thank you. I think I'm probably quite loose, so it seems to be working out. I changed some of the colours from the original pattern, so I'm pleased with how it's looking.

It looks like you've accomplished quite a bit from where I'm sitting! I really like the owl, and I think that heart is such a thoughtful gift for your mother. Your granddaughter's Christmas jumper is looking wonderful so far, and I think your Christmas decorations are great. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you might knit in the future. :-)

That Dare to Dabble tea and chat meet sounds like it was really lovely. Here's hoping that it can go ahead in some form in October.

Thank you - it wasn't until I stood back and looked at what I'd done with the jumper that I realised I had actually done quite a bit! I'm glad you like the jumper.

Yes, it would be so nice to be able to go out and have a dedicated couple of hours doing a different craft.

My blog-reading has been so sporadic, so I'm wondering if you've posted before about Dare to Dabble and I missed it. Sounds interesting.

I probably have posted in passing. It's run by a local museum - Museum in Art - and is an opportunity for £10 to spend two hours trying out a new craft and taking home what you've made. I've done Christmas wreaths, Easter egg decoration, Christmas decorations and cards using quilling before. It's very relaxed atmosphere, in which we chat and make things - and in my case, generally get sticky!

Thank you. It's a wool blend - which will wear and wash better (always a consideration with small children!)
