Craft - Month 10 (Stuff I Love 10)

Yes, I love all sorts of crafting and would like to have more time to do more.  And hopefully, come April, that will be the case.

My hat, based on a Klimt pattern is growing well:



And I've knitted a few small items:  The Valentine's heart (included here for completeness), a whale and an owl:



 

And I'm really pleased with the way the William Morris cross stitch is going:

Thank you - I think the hat's nearly long enough (the pattern is for a much bigger hat, but I want the more standard, beany style).

I'm really surprised at how fast the cross stitch is growing - I'm not spending that long on it each day.

By the way, remember I told you that I wanted to try knitting again after about 15 years? It turned out, the hands don't need my head to remember: I just took the needles and yarn and the knitting just happened all by itself!

I have been waiting for this post. I have been following your updates on get knitted but I really wanted to see the whale and owl when they were finished. And the cross stitch looks great! That dark background can't be easy but you've made a lot of progress.

I've been waiting to post to finish the owl, which took me all week, small section by small section, as you will have seen.

I really like the cross stitch. I'm not keen working on the dark background, although I think it looks good, the black and dark blue stitches are really difficult to do.

Thank you. Yes, the Klimt pattern was a Christmas present from my husband, because we both like Klimt.

They're all gorgeous! I love the hat and the little whale, especially. I have trouble stranding my knitting colourwork so it doesn't pull oddly.

What's coming up in April that will leave you more time for crafting?

Thank you very much. With the hat the main pattern is knitted with one colour per row and slipping the stitches for the second colour, which makes it easier.

These are all amazing, with the whale making me smile (a blue Moby Dick? Or more accurately the Star Trek Voyage Home, saving the whales!).

Thank you. I just looked at the balls of yarn I have and chose something I thought would suit the whale.

For the main pattern of the hat, it's knitted with one colour per row, just slipping the second colour across so it's much easier than it looks.
