Amphitrite is goddess of the sea.  (Day 6 of [community profile] sunshine_challenge )

I like the sea.  We don't go as often as we might, but it involves at least 90 minutes travel each way which is a lot of time out of a day out.

However, here are a few photos:

Selsey Bill, taken November 2014

Bridlington May 2019

I've written a number of fics set at the seaside or on the coast, including:

Summer Holiday
which is Sherlock/Greg Lestrade (BBC Sherlock) plus their two children part of The Unexpected Family

Various Sherlock Holmes (ACD) ficlets, like the latest chapter of Ferret and Friends  and The East Wind which is set at the end of His Last Bow.

And for my Spooks AU series Love in All Seasons Lucas and Adam the retirement era season has them living not far from the sea and frequent visitors.

Oh, beautiful! I think you've helped me make up my mind and go to see the sea. :) And thank you for sharing fic recs, too. These tempt me to start finally reading in the Sherlock fandom(s).

There's something about an overcast beach day that hits right. I love that chill ocean breeze.

I like the contrasts in your photos of the sea on a bright sunny day and the more sombre dull days.

Enjoyed the fics:)

What exquisite pictures! It makes me hungry for the sea.

I marked your Ferret fic for later. How many of them are there in the 72 part series? Which one should I read first?

Your beach photos remind me of the other side of the pond, Maine. My sisters-in-law share a house there, we were last there nine(!) years ago.

Here's a bunch of my pix from my last trip. I really need to get back and do some more shooting, but travel is so limited these days, and Maine is really far from where we live, almost the completely far side of the country.

(I follow How's My English's blog, my wife's a big contributor to AO3, though, if you're familiar with quasar.)

I've only been to California and Maine beaches, and the California beaches that I've seen were very sandy, compared to Maine's rocky beaches.  Quite the contrast.  My wife's family used to vacation in Maine, which is part of the reason why her sisters moved there.  I wonder if you pieced the continents together through the Pangea/Gondwonaland model if England/Maine would be close together, and maybe share a commonality in rock, which might explain some of the similarity, or if some rotation occurred and it's more complex.  I have no idea!  It is interesting, though.  My only time in Europe, thus far, was in Berlin and Prague and up the Elbe: not exactly beach areas.
