Amphitrite is goddess of the sea. (Day 6 of
sunshine_challenge )
I like the sea. We don't go as often as we might, but it involves at least 90 minutes travel each way which is a lot of time out of a day out.
However, here are a few photos:
Selsey Bill, taken November 2014

Bridlington May 2019

I've written a number of fics set at the seaside or on the coast, including:
Summer Holiday which is Sherlock/Greg Lestrade (BBC Sherlock) plus their two children part of The Unexpected Family
Various Sherlock Holmes (ACD) ficlets, like the latest chapter of Ferret and Friends and The East Wind which is set at the end of His Last Bow.
And for my Spooks AU series Love in All Seasons Lucas and Adam the retirement era season has them living not far from the sea and frequent visitors.

Date: 2021-07-23 03:22 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how many of The Ocelot Tales involve the Ferret. Briefly, the Ocelot Tales began with the Ocelot who is the editor of Marylebone Monthly Illutrated and helps Holmes and Watson in some cases. He was joined by Mouselet, who has a cruch on Inspector Hopkins. After which the Ferret arrived - song and dance mustelid, frequently falls into unrequited love. Then came the Sloth, followed by Aemelia Vole and most recently Poley the Moley. A lot of the stories involve various different members, the Ferret's are generally the most humorous. You could begin with Ferret Tales

Date: 2021-08-17 01:24 pm (UTC)Here's a bunch of my pix from my last trip. I really need to get back and do some more shooting, but travel is so limited these days, and Maine is really far from where we live, almost the completely far side of the country.

Date: 2021-08-17 09:40 pm (UTC)I've only been to California and Maine beaches, and the California beaches that I've seen were very sandy, compared to Maine's rocky beaches. Quite the contrast. My wife's family used to vacation in Maine, which is part of the reason why her sisters moved there. I wonder if you pieced the continents together through the Pangea/Gondwonaland model if England/Maine would be close together, and maybe share a commonality in rock, which might explain some of the similarity, or if some rotation occurred and it's more complex. I have no idea! It is interesting, though. My only time in Europe, thus far, was in Berlin and Prague and up the Elbe: not exactly beach areas.
