Again this month, a very local place, right in the middle of the city of Gloucester is Alney Island Local Nature reserve.

As you can see, it's within sight of the cathedral:

We visited last weekend, when, although the storms had passed, the nearby River Severn was still high and part of the island was wet:

Very wet (we were unable to follow the circular route)

There were bullocks:

We're still at the end of winter

But the spring flowers are starting to flower: purple crocuses, snowdrops, winter aconites?, daffodils

Slightly bleak still, but worth visiting.  Did I mention the water?

Lots of water, but I agree the tiny flowers look hopeful.

The conditions at Alney Island Local Nature Reserve may be slightly bleak but your photos are beautiful. I really like your River Severn pictures and the shots you took of the flowers. Actually, all of your photos are really interesting. I can see why Alney Island Local Nature Reserve was worth visiting. :-)
